Added Feedback Function

January 11th, 2009

I have added a “widget” from uservoice.com which allows my visitors to leave feedback really easy. This feedback can be bugs on the site or suggestions etc. When you are on the site you will notice a little button on the right side. Clicking on this will pop-up a box where the most voted suggestions are.

I’m not sure if anyone are going to leave any feedback, but it’s worth a shoot.

Have you tried this before?

Just a little update

December 20th, 2008

I don’t know how many of you that reads this blog, but it would have been great if you left an comment. :)

Anyway, Christmas is closing up, and my time is going towards shopping and some of-net working instead of the website. I got Holy Grail Games to a point where I’m satisfied, and don’t have the urge to make big changes yet. But, there are always things that can be better and at the moment I spend my time on optimizing the revenue. I don’t want to overload the site with ads, but then again I need to earn money. Today I took away the link units on the game page, since they only yield a couple dollars per month. Not worth the expousoure at all. I will keep and close eye on the other spots, and if they aren’t making as much as I think they are worth, I will take them down. Currently Adsense only gives me around 2 cents per click, so I need to get the CTR as high as possible. I’m also thinking of adding some more CPM ads. (Currently running one in the header and one on the game page from VC.)

Do you know of any good CPM company, let me know in a comment below!

Other then that I am going to go over the trades in the near feature. I see big different’s in the amount of visitors in from the differnet sources. So, if you trades traffic with me, expect an e-mail next year requesting screenshots of the analytics.

Adsense linked to Analytics

I have finally got the adsense account linked to my analytics, so now I can see which trades sending traffic that actually clicks on ads. Might be a helpful tool getting rid of potential cheaters.

Have a Great Christmas and Happy New Year!

Yesterday HGG Had above 10K Visitors

December 7th, 2008

Just a quick note about this happening.

Yesterday was a though day for my server. Over 10.000 unique visitors came to the site. The downside of it is that about half of it was traffic from china, which lead to a slow working server. The goal is to get 10.000 uniques steady per day, but then with prime users from US/UK and Europe.

Traffic From China Is Killing My Server

December 6th, 2008

Yesterday I finally got the problems with the server sorted out, but it diden’t go long before I got a new problem on my hands. This time it’s China. Traffic from China. Lynx Bike 2 got featured on two of the biggest game sites in china (7k7k.com and game.com.cn) which resulted into a traffic swarm heading my way. Traffic I don’t really want. Why? because I don’t earn a dime on traffic from China.

Anyway, I do now know what limits my server got. 100 people online at the same time. Then the CPU are running for 100%. There have been 100 people online at the same time constant for the last 12 hours. This ain’t good for my server, and I’m thinking of redirecting the traffic to another site. (msn.com or something)

It’s night in China now, and the traffic is falling. Finally. If the traffic is as high tomorrow I will do the redirect, but for now I keep the traffic coming.

So, have you been bugged with China traffic latly?

I Think I Have Fixed The Server Issue

December 5th, 2008

Holy Grail Games might not need a bigger server after all. Not yet that is. Today I sent an new ticket to hostgator regarding the server issue, and this time a new guy responded. (last time the support said that I needed to upgrade the server)

This time the support really knew what he was talking about, and apparently when HGG was running on the old GS script it set alot of persistent connections in mysql. Some of the connections have been running for several millions of seconds. And when these stacked up it just got worse and worse. Anyway, the support deleted the bad stuff, and reset the database, and now everything looks fine. The site hasent been down for several hours, and it handles 40+ people online at the same time just fine. :) Before it meant trouble if 20+ people visited.

So, HGG will stay on this server for now, and we’ll see if I need a server upgrade with time. Now I need to get the new URLs indexed in google. Thats a pain.

Holy Grail Games finally below 100k in Alexa

December 4th, 2008

So, just wanted to write a short post letting you know Holy Grail Games is now below the famouse 100k mark in Alexa. The ranking at the moment is 97.417.

The 1 week avreage is above 100k, but that is mainly becuase of the change of script. I almost lost 50% of all my traffic instantly over night when I made the switch (might write a own post about that). But in the last days the traffic has been picking up.

Now I need to get the server issue fixed.

HGG Is Now Up With a New Script And Design

November 24th, 2008

So, finally the “new” site is up. It’s a complete makeover, and the backend is also changed from GS to PHPAS. This is a move that I wanted to do for a long time, but haven’t had the time to go trough with such a big change. I have worked on the new layout of and on for a couple months, and are pretty happy with it.

Now I only need to get a decent plug mod and it would be christmas this year as well. :)

Anyway, what do you think about the new look?

And then the blog is live
