I guess its important to have something to say when you write a blog - but its not that easy i tell you! I dont have an opinion on everything. I might should have, but i don’t. But what i do have is some experience with websites, and how to make money from them. (also called monetizing.) In this post I’ll start something hopefully being a trend.

So. I’m going to use HGG as a example when playing with numbers. First of I will come with some statistic from December 2007.

Total uniques: 147 854
Page views: 347 708

There should be enough visitors to make a decent amount of money. Put to tell you the truth - the site doesn’t make that much. I’m experiments with a lot of different networks, and I’m trying to not put all my eggs in one basket. I do of course use Google Adsense (wich i can’t link to with an affiliate url longer…) and its in fact the network that i earn the most with, but thats only because its the network that gets the prime positions at the moment.

Earnings

• Adsense: $220.54

Adsense did provide the most amount of cash but the CPC where really poor and almost down to 1 cent. This is really bad, and thats why I’m trying to find a new network.

• Widgetbucks: $20.48

I had widgetbucks on the site for about 2 weeks and provided them with only US traffic. (geo-targeted) The CPC was great (about $0.50) but the CTR was a bit lower. So the plan is to try and get better CTR and give widgetbucks more space on the site. Its incredible that they can pay 50x more then adsense!

• Rubicon: $57.93

Rubicon is a new “network” which are going to use different networks on your site, and show the best performing one. I did not find them usefull and are not going to use them anymore.

• Moregamers: $67.60.

Moregamers are actually an bannerexchange. But they have a paid program aswell, wich pays on a CPM basis. I do understand why, since I delivered them 13.000 clicks in december. This is about $0.005 CPC which are really low - but the banner dosen’t take up much space (only a 100×100 banner) and the banner alone almost pays for the server.

In total
I think thats pretty much sums it up. In total the income was: $366.55. Not bad - but it only gives a CPM just over $1. It has to be possible to do it better!

Expenses
I haven’t had a lot of expenses in december, since no new game was launched. But my hostingaccount costs me $75.

Alright - everyone should have goal in their life. And i do also. At this time my goal is to own a Lamborghini Murciélago. Do you think its possible? Well, i might afford the car, but i guess the insurance cost will be a bit much to swallow:P

The Murciélago is a two-door, two-seat coupé. To celebrate the company’s 40 years in operation, 50 special edition Murciélagos were built during the autumn of 2003. An open-top version called the Murciélago Roadster was introduced in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The insurance
As you can imagine its not cheap to insure a car like this - and quite frankly i havent found a company willing to do it yet in my country.

Here are some tips:
It really depends on the car how much you have to pay for insurance. If you wreck an Lamborghini it costs the insurance company alot more then if you wreck and old Toyota. Therefor if you are going to insrue an expensive car - it will cost you. Alot!
